UNIVERSITY OF JOS STUDENT CULTURAL DAY IN KUNGA COCIN CHURCH

        There was a cultural day which took place at the Naraguta student village. The event took place in COCIN CHURCH KUNGA on the 22nd of May 2023
     The event started with a service which was led by Reverend  Emmanuel Nicolas. The youth band ushered everyone in with an Angelic song that got everyone on his or her feet 
 The scripture reading was then taken from the holy book of John, it was taken by the church Reverend in the person of Reverend  Emmanuel Nicolas, the Reverend read the holy scripture and went further to explain it.
In his sermon, the Reverend was able to talk about the cultural day saying "it is important for you to acknowledge where you are coming, you should be proud of the tribe you are coming. He also said he was very happy to witness this occasion for it was his first time".
 Immediately after the collection of offertory, the event kick start in an orderly and well organize manner.

   The ANAGUTA speaking tribe were the first to display their traditional way of life , they came in and displayed their traditional dance and later talked a little about the tribe say the ANAGUTA people are known for peace

After the ANAGUTA speaking tribe, the TAROK speaking tribe came in, in a way that marvelled everyone. They came and spoke also about their tribe saying that they are the lion of Africa, they are also peaceful people and they only fight when  they are been touched.

The next tribe to display was the BEROM speaking tribe. This tribe really represented their tribe well, the danced uniformly and that made them looked great. They were able to present their traditional delicacy which popularly known as tuwon Acha (fonio) and miyan karkashi with their local drink known as burkutu

In an interview with an eyewitness or respondent in person of Miss Patience, a student of Linguistics department said, 
"I am really glad or overwhelmed with joy to be among those presenting today. I must say I am happy and impressed because I believe I proudly represented my culture and my pride perfectly well and I that next year's cultural day would be more memorable".
The next tribe was the NGAS speaking tribe

they came in dressed in a local way that portrayed their tribe 

The MAGAVWUL speaking tribe were the next tribe to display. They came in dressed in their cultural attire and danced to their traditional song. There a request of a one minute silence by the tribe for their loved ones who were killed during the attack , they also displayed their traditional delicacy

Others that participated were the NASSARAWA SPEAKING TRIBE then the SIYAWA and lastly the BOKKOS tribe. They all came in accompanied in their cultural dance and they also explained a little about their tribe, some of their traditional delicacies were been displayed.

A student in person of Mr Yahkubu tried to give us a clear picture of what a cultural day is all about saying, 
"Cultural day is a celebration been done across Nigerian schools once a year to celebrate Nigeria's rich cultural heritage and conscientiae the younger generation on the need to preserve, promote and understand them. Cultural day at schools are been done to teach students the key values of different culture because it is believed that cultural awareness is a strong means of communicating and promoting peaceful coexistence among the students and respect for other people's culture in the society".
    After the the cultural display by various tribes, there was closing prayer and receiving of the final blessings by the church Reverend and all dismissed home.
